We believe children should experience the joy of learning and performing music in an ensemble. Students at BCS Music Academy have the opportunity to learn a band or orchestra instrument through group lessons as well as in individual lessons. Our mission is to grow our music ensembles to prepare for performances, competitions and festivals.

Lisa May - Band and Orchestra
The band will be conducted by Lisa May (owner and founder of BCS Music Academy). She has a bachelors degree in Music Education from Western Michigan University and a Masters degree in Psychology from Kaplan University. Lisa has taught music K-12 and College for over 30 years. She has taught beginning band, intermediate and advanced bands in the public and private schools. In her time teacher, she built a successful music program at MacDonald Middle School in East Lansing earning first division and second division ratings at MSBOA District and State Band Festival. Her students also consistently earned first and second division ratings in MSBOA Solo and Ensemble Festivals at the District and State Levels. In addition to having her students attend festivals, Lisa was an MSBOA judge for Band and Orchestra Festivals as well as Solo and Ensemble.
Every other year, Lisa's students had the opportunity to travel to Chicago to hear the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and do an ensemble clinic at Northwestern University.
Lisa moved to Texas in 2021 from North Carolina. In her spare time, she loves spending time on the farm with her family taking care of their goats, chickens and cows and many other animals.
